Every spring, Pennsylvania's voters head to the polls for the Commonwealth's primary elections.

But not everyone is included in this process. That’s because primaries are closed in Pennsylvania.  More than 1.4 million taxpaying independent voters are denied their right to vote in these elections, despite paying their share of $75 million a year to fund them.

It’s time to #RepealClosedPrimaries and allow every legally registered voter to cast a ballot in PA’s primary.

77% of Pennsylvanians support repealing closed primaries - including strong majorities of independents, Democrats, and Republicans.

Repealing closed primaries would guarantee a more fair process, increase the competitiveness of races, and help limit the amount of extremism and gridlock on both sides.

Join the overwhelming majority of PA voters who favor repealing closed primaries.

I am a younger voter who’s just realizing how skewed the political system is, I only discovered today that I cannot vote in primaries if I am not registered to one of the two parties. At one point or another in my life I’ve identified as Democrat, Republican, third party, and now I don’t want to be strictly associated with any of them. It is astonishing that I cannot vote in a primary election if I have no affiliation with any party. It is infuriating how everything is geared towards a two party system. One of the original founding principals of this country was the direct opposition of ANY political parties, though that didn’t last long even back then. No matter which party I am registered with, or none at all, I should be able to vote based on a candidate’s policies and practices, regardless of political party.

My voice should matter in elections. I cannot align with either party but I should be able to help choose candidates in the primaries.

I’d love to be able to vote how I align when there are not independent candidates. In all honesty we should have our own ballot that allows to vote from both sides during a primary so we can have the most say as we aren’t going to do straight party votes etc.

All registered voters should have the opportunity to choose the candidate that best represents their values.
