How You Can Get Involved
We believe everyone can make a difference. Here’s how you can take action, starting with easy ways to help and building up to deeper levels of engagement:
Step 1: Sign the Petition
Sign the Ballot PA petition to show your support and stay updated on the latest developments.
Step 2: Know your State Representative and State Senator
You can find your State Legislators, along with their contact information, by entering your location on the PA's General Assembly website here.
Step 3: Make a Phone Call
Call your State Senator and State Representative’s offices to voice your support. Your call helps raise awareness and shows lawmakers this matters to you. Log your State Representative phone call here and your State Senator phone call here.
Step 4: Write a Handwritten Letter
Send a personal, handwritten letter to your State Senator and State Representative. Hand-written letters have a powerful impact and are often given special attention by elected officials. Log your State Representative letter here and your State Senator letter here.
Step 5: Meet Your State Representative or Senator
Schedule an in-person meeting or video call with your State Representative to personally share your support, ask questions, and help build momentum for the cause. Log your State Representative meeting here and your State Senator meeting here.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 2, 3, and 4
Legislators hear from their constituents all the time. It is critical they continue to hear from you.
Step 7: Community Outreach
Speak to your family, neighbors, and co-workers about why you support Open Primaries and encourage them to join you in this effort.
Step 8: Write a Letter to the Editor
Write a Letter to the Editor advocating for Open Primaries. Your letter should be concise, respectful, and focused. Make it clear why the reader should care about the issue and provide evidence.
Bonus: Start a Local Chapter
Take your advocacy to the next level by starting or leading a local chapter in your county! We’ll support you with training and resources to help you organize and drive local action. Learn more by emailing Harry Patton Hou at [email protected]
